On April 14, 2016, the Parliament declared the Tost Tosonbumba Mountains as a State Special Protected Area under the category of Nature Reserve.

The Tost Tosonbumba mountain ranges became a State Special Protected are is very important for the world’s most endangered snow leopards, but also many species of plants and animals under its umbrella. Which also means the traditional livelihood of about 300 local people has been secured.

In the future, the Tost  Tosonbumba Nature Reserve aims to strengthen conservation efforts through a combined research and conservation strategy in order to conserve the mountain ecosystem intact.

This is one of the few incidents that local community initiatives have successfully achieved. A huge gratitude goes to the Parliamentarians L. Erdenechimeg, Ts. Oyungerel, Snow leopard Conservation Foundation and whoever submitted petitions.
