The Open Day of SLCF

On the 7th and 8th March 2014, SLCF organized the “Open Day of SLCF” event in Gurvantes Soum, Umnugovi Province. The aim of the event was to raise snow leopard conservation awareness and research programs in the Tost Tosonbumba Mountain among the local people.

The event was participated by Mr. Ganbold.B, Head of Uvs Province Environmental Agency, Badarch.O, Head of Environmental Agency of Umnugovi Province, Bayanmunkh. B, Director of GGNP, Terbish,Kh, professor, NUM, Chagnaadorj, G, Chair of UMENGO, Batzorig. G, veterinarian, Laboratory of State Veterinarian department, Batzorig,B journalist, Green Journal NGO and governmental office of Gurvnates.

Team of facilitators of the event presented the importance of snow leopard conservation and its ecosystem and policies by the central government of Mongolia. It was followed by local people’s questions regarding snow leopards and wild animals and discussion took place.

The event was continued with community trade of local products and handicrafts. At the exhibition, the outstanding herder- artisans were recognized with top 3 places and awarded. The first place went to Dandar. H, second is to Ulambayar. Ts and third place – Myadagsuren. B. Special places were recognized as well and they went to Munkhsaihan. O and Surenkhuu.L .
